Common local issues

Built for our climate.

Sea-level vs. 3,500 ft sizing

Manufacturer BTU ratings are tested at sea level. At 3,500 ft (most of the High Desert), capacity drops about 10%. Sizing without accounting for elevation creates undersized systems that run constantly and burn out early.

Climate range 25-115°F

High Desert systems work harder than coastal systems on both ends. We spec equipment that handles both summer extreme heat and winter cold snaps without short-cycling.

Wind-driven dust ingress

Standard cabinet seals fail in High Desert wind country. We seal control compartments and use coated coils where the install location takes direct wind exposure.

A2L refrigerant transition (2025+)

New installs in 2025 and beyond must use A2L-compliant refrigerants (R-32 or R-454B). We are trained and EPA-certified on the new refrigerant handling. Older R-410A systems are still legal to repair but no longer the default new-install choice.

Found company on-line when A/C went out. Jessica answered and was so friendly and professional. I called at about 9am. By 10:30 two gentlemen showed up and by noon my A/C was working better than ever. Would recommend this company anytime!

Our A/C went out on Wed 08/31at 2:00am, as you know this has been a tremendous heat wave. I called on Thursday, Joseph came out gave me an estimate, ordered the unit and had it installed on Friday. Joseph's technicians worked quickly and efficiently. In my opinion they went above and beyond to get everything installed, keep in mind this is Labor Day weekend. I can't THANK YOU enough. Pricing and financing was amazing as well.

AC went out Monday. Called JC Energy Solutions and spoke with someone right away. They scheduled me for first thing the next day. The techs were on time, friendly, and professional. They diagnosed and repaired the issue fairly quickly without any problems. Unfortunately, the next day, an identical issue represented itself. Although the issue looked the same, it was a different cause. As someone who’s worked in auto repair, home improvement, and customer service in general, I know these things can happen. What sets JCES apart is how they handle them. They were empathetic and apologetic that there was still an issue. They got one of their top guys to come back out first thing the next day and gave a credit for missing one of the causes. They replaced the part no problem and double checked everything was good to go. If you need responsive, professional, friendly, and great value service, I 10/10 recommend JCES!

Last thing anyone wants is the AC to go out in July/August. Start to finish, amazing service. Initial phone and schedule completed quickly, they even got me in first thing the next day. Techs were on time, professional, diagnosed the issue quickly, and we’re able to fix it right away. Appreciation for a well run and friendly family business!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does AC installation take?
Most residential single-system installs are completed in one to two days. Multi-zone, ductless retrofits, or complete duct replacement can extend to three to four days.
How do I know what size AC I need?
A proper load calculation (Manual J) measures your home's actual heat gain based on insulation, window area, ductwork, and orientation. Square-footage rules of thumb consistently oversize systems and lead to short-cycling, humidity problems, and shortened equipment life. We do Manual J on every install.
What rebates are available?
Southern California Edison runs ongoing rebates on high-efficiency systems and heat pumps. SoCalGas has additional rebates for tankless and high-efficiency furnaces. We pull current rebate sheets at quote time and apply them to your final price.
Should I get a heat pump instead of AC + furnace?
For most High Desert homes, modern variable-speed heat pumps now perform reliably down to 5°F and consolidate heating and cooling into one system. They are also rebate-eligible. We will price both options at quote time and lay out the trade-off.
How long do AC systems last in the High Desert?
Properly sized and maintained systems run 12-15 years here. Oversized systems short-cycle and fail at 8-10. Wind-exposed installs without coated coils can lose 2-3 years to corrosion.
Do you handle the permit?
Yes. We pull the mechanical permit, schedule the final inspection, and hand you the signed-off permit at job close. No follow-up work for you.
What financing do you offer?
GreenSky promotional plans (some 0% APR) plus Wisetack soft-pull pay-over-time. See full financing options.
Do you remove the old equipment?
Yes. Old condenser, air handler, and refrigerant are recovered and removed at no extra charge. Refrigerant is reclaimed per EPA rules.
